Nuremberg Trials Begin (1945)
Neuremberg is a good example of how military courts are better suited to deal with acts of war than civil courts. I still don't understand why the Obama administration is sending some of the terrorists to military tribunals and others to civilian courts. The 'because they killed civilians' explanation is just not logical. In fact given the sometimes jackpot justice outcomes (O.J. Simpson) that occur, aren't they really giving incentive to the terrorists to strike civilian targets rather than military targets?
Using the administrations logic it appears that they would have brought Hermann Göring back to the US or the UK for trial since he was responsible for ordering the bombing of the London civilian population during the Battle of Britain.It doesn't really make sense does it?
